Logo EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Limited Sizewell B Emergency Response Centre Sizewell B nuclear power station, Leiston, Suffolk

Overview

Following the Fukushima nuclear incident EDF Energy proposed an emergency response centre (‘ERC’) to strengthen existing arrangements at the Sizewell B nuclear power station.

Strategy

We reviewed the proposed ERC against the findings of the Office for Nuclear Regulation Chief Inspector’s report into the Fukushima incident, and the results of EU required stress tests. We provided expert legal review of the application and supporting materials (which include flood risk assessment, transport assessment, ecology and other environmental information) and made recommendations to remove identified legal risk.

Outcome

Suffolk Coastal District Council granted planning permission on 12th September 2012.

Client Comment

Zyda Law's ... breadth of experience in the Energy sector has not only helped specific projects but allowed us to improve our generic approach to planning issues. I would have no hesitation in recommending Zyda Law.
