INEOS Enterprises sought development consent for an underground (19 salt cavity) gas storage facility and above ground compressor plant in open countryside. The proposal, which required salt solution mining of unexploited salt reserves, is classed as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project under the Planning Act 2008.
We drafted the draft Development Consent Order accompanied by an environmental statement. We advised on additional consents and Environmental Permits required for the project and assisted in devising a consultation strategy and in carrying out the first stages of consultation.
The application for Development Consent will be submitted early 2015.
Pre-application engagement is ongoing.
